Juno what this is???? It's ultimate synth porn for the synthetic pornographer.
Coffee table porn for analog fetishists.
It’s full of knobs and what makes it better is all the knobs were photographed by a woman.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a girlfiriend who is as passionate about knobs as you are??
Seriously, there is a page of knobs and I can’t justify how amazing this is.. believe me
Tabitha Hub is her name and I can’t help feeling that if it wasn’t for her, then this fantastic book would be missing something……you know…that female touch. Ofcourse Tabita is the girlfriend of Michal Matlack of The Analog Roland Orchestra and he helped write some of the text along as interviewing numerous well known names.
The book says it all and glamourises all those lights and buttons and sliders, as for the sounds…well if you know…you know don’t you?? Don’t you…? The days of boxes, mastering that one instrument and it’s unadvertised little tricks, which is something missing from todays DAW’s and probably even todays Digital Virtual analog emulations.
We knew the sounds of each unit, we spent the 80’s and the 90’s being able to identify that drum machine….that hi hat, that synth pad…we mastered each unit as a seperate entity.
This book looks as good as your Roland based Gear Aquisition Syndromic studio…..
It is so beautifully presented….it starts with the RE-201 Space Echo and ends with the TR505/626…it runs chronoligically and you just want it to go on forever just as if you'd run the whole thing through the RE-201....
I think i’ve made it obvious it’s one for the Synth purists….but only a certain sort will get this…I’m lucky to be old enough to have expereinces with these gorgeous bits of kit.
I’m please to say that mine all still work and sync up in their orignal fashion here at Ring-Modulator Studio.
The passion that these little boxes create can only be felt by either owning one or many.......
